Hendanes Lighthouse

In rough terrain

Close to the mountain edge is Hendanes Lighthouse, 50 meters above sea level northwest of Færestrand. The lighthouse was built in 1914 and was the last lighthouse to be built in the Måløy region. To get there you have to walk approx. 1 km on a narrow road along the mountainside. The path to the lighthouse has been in such poor condition that it has been impossible to have any sorts of usage. Now, however, this seems to be changing as work has begun to secure the path up to the lighthouse. It is a short and nice trip out there which is well worth your time if you are in the area. The ocean as it always does offers magical sunsets & fascinating views accompanied by the crashing of the waves.

How to get there

Hendanes Lighthouse is located approx. 10 km from Måløy centre. Follow fv 601 from Måløy to Vågsvåg and continue towards Oppedal. Before Oppedal, take the exit towards Færestrand. At the end of the road, you can park your ride as you will have to walk the last kilometre up to the lighthouse.
