Ulvesund Lighthouse

Fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves and wake up to the sound of singing birds

Ulvesund Lighthouse was built in 1870 and was automated in 1985. It is located at Hjertenes by Osmundsvåg, at the far end of Ulvesundet, part of Kinn municipality in Nordfjord. The nearest town is Måløy. This lighthouse was lit the first time in September 1870, and manned and automated by 1985.

Ulvesund is one of four lighthouses that guide boats safely around Stadt, which is the worst stretch of sea in Norway. Ulvesund Lighthouse is owned by the Coastal Administration West and run by Sølvi Helen Hopland Aemmer.

The lighthouse was restored in the summer of 2003, and was open for the public on 8-10. Aug. 2003. The lighthouse consists of rental, accommodation, dining, cultural programs and a cute lighthouse café with exhibitions and creative activities. Our most photographed are the two famous goats that visit the lighthouse in the summer. Ulvesund Lighthouse is warm and quiet inUlvesundet, surrounded by a sunny garden abundant with flowers and berries. Here you have a full overview of ships traffic and the changing lights in the Herring Gap as well as enjoy colourful, peaceful sunsets.
